EU-delegation now heading for Iran without defender of Iran’s sovereignty
“Democratic” colleagues don’t want to travel to Tehran with MEP Udo Voigt
The “tolerant” people, who always promote ‘human rights’ and ‘democracy’ around the world, have once again struck in the European Parliament, albeit far from tolerant: German NPD MEP Udo Voigt has been replaced at the last moment by the chairman of the Parliament’s delegation to Iran. MEP Voigt was informed that he could not take part in the delegation’s upcoming visit to Iran. In the letter to Udo Voigt, the exclusion is justified by the fact that “the vast majority of the delegation regards your participation as particularly critical”; if MEP Voigt was to participate, at least three other delegation members – presumably, in particular, the LINKE-MEP Cornelia Ernst – would have cancelled their participation. A blatant case of extortion towards the head of the delegation.

The main reason for the exclusion is that Parliament very well knows MEP Voigt’s stance in favour of the peace process in Syria (with the help of Iran) and strongly against the continued sanctions against Iran, Russia and Syria. This dissident view is the real reason to exclude him from the trip.
Udo Voigt finds the behaviour of his ‘colleagues’ revealing and stated in a first statement: “It is significant that the ‘colleagues‘ of the established parties, which are always so close to the heart of ‘human rights’ and ‘democracy’ in other parts of the world, are throwing their principles out the window only to discriminate against an uncomfortable dissident who expresses an opinion of respect for Iran’s sovereignty.”
MEP Voigt will not accept his exclusion from the visit to Iran without objection. He has informed Parliament President Tajani of the events in the Iran-delegation, which are unprecedented in the history of the European Parliament, and asks him to clarify whether the committee chairman may have exceeded his powers. He also informed UNIA, the independent anti-discrimination body in Brussels, of the case, which in turn will now require disclosure from Parliament.
