Udo Voigt supports Italy’s president against the hate of the old elites
It was not a glorification day for the European Parliament: when Italy’s Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, as a guest of the Parliament, met in Straatsburg for a debate on the „future of Europe“ on Tuesday, he was confronted with persistent and sometimes vile accusations from the so-called „Democratic“ factions. Whether leftwing liberals like the Belgian Guy Verhofstadt or „moderates“ such as the leader of the German Christian Democrats, Manfred Weber: all fell over the guest from Italy, whose government is committed like no other to end the asylum-smugglers boat operations in the Mediterranean (and thanks to the Lega Minister of the Interior Salvini also with good results). Of course this is a thorn in the side of established immigration parties. On Tuesday, they aimed their concentrated hatred on the Italian head of state, and parliamentary president Tajani, Italian himself, had more than once to call his raging colleagues for some balance.
The guest from Rome, on the other hand, understood and appreciated the German NPD member Udo Voigt, who paid tribute to Conte for combating the „mass invasion“ across the Mediterranean. Voigt explicitly shielded the Italian against the insults of his colleagues, which he regarded as a pure panic reaction by the desperate old parties. Turning to Conte, Voigt said literally:
„You must feel today as in a tribunal. But this is not a tribunal. It’s the trembling of the old elites who know that they will not have the majorities in this house any more in three months time. “
In view of the now clear evidence „that migrants can kill a thousandfold“, Voigt encouraged the Italian president to stay true to his course and to continue to vigorously oppose immigration mismanagement. „Stop the killings, give hope for a new future to the millions of Europeans who today are looking to Poland, to Italy, to Hungary,“ Voigt called to the Italian guest.
