Udo Voigt speaks out in the European Parliament against the giant ‘AB-Mittelrhein’-showtrial in the city of Koblenz
Yesterday’s Monday in Strasbourg’s European Parliament saw a several-hour debate on the topic “Strengthening Citizens’ Rights in a Union of Democratic Change”. The NPD MEP Udo Voigt brought another judicial scandal from the West German reality on the European scene.
The case: only recently, the Koblenz Higher Regional Court decided, after six months of consultation, to completely restart a giant trial that had been ended in May because of the “unreasonable lengthy procedure, contrary with human rights”. We are talking about the so-called “AB Middle Rhine Process”, in which in the last five years a total of 26 German Patriots, so-called ‘members’ of the “Action Alliance Middle Rhine”, were in front of the judge because of the alleged “formation of a criminal organization”. As many as 337 accusations were heard, each trial day cost the taxpayer between € 30,000 and € 50,000, 52 lawyers were employed, and the indictment covered around 1,000 pages.
Because the cells in the Koblenz courthouse were insufficient to accommodate the defendants, half of a dozen of them were placed in transport vehicles of the police during the process interruptions, where the space was not even enough to stand upright.
After 5 years, no conviction is present, and judges decided to stop the farce. But according to the will of other judges, the madness should now go to the next round.
Udo Voigt, who highlighted the hard-to-tolerate conditions of the Koblenz judicial farce to Strasbourg’s MEPs, made it clear that justice such as this has nothing to do with the “democratic change” announced by the European Parliament: “What happened in my country is a farce and is totally contrary to the idea of a free, democratic society. (…) These are circumstances that should be expected in North Korea or Pakistan rather than in an EU-country like Germany. ”
