Question for written answer to the Commission
Is the Commission investigating allegations contained in the Latvian ‘Diena’ newspaper regarding the sale of the state Citadele bank to an American fund and the questionable involvement of Valdis Dombrovskis (from Latvia), who has been designated for a post as Commission Vice-President?
Are EU Commissioners subject to a ‘code of honour’ requiring them to resign or (in the case of Valdis Dombrovskis) refuse such an appointment if they are the subject of investigations in their country of origin?
If so, what view does the Commission take of Valdis Dombrovskis as a candidate for the post?
